From the outside, it seems that motherhood happens instantly. However, for those who decide to have a child, it is actually a long and complicated journey with no turning back. How can you walk this path without losing yourself? Always be here – as a mother and as yourself.
At the center of the performance is a mother, played by puppeteer Monika Mikalauskaitė-Baužienė, and the puppet she controls. From the very first scenes, they interact with each other. Through their conversation, the challenges and fears faced by mothers are gradually revealed, as well as the fragility and strength of motherhood. And love, which is stronger than everything else and conquers all.
The director’s vision opens up space for a real encounter between the puppeteer and her puppet: director Vera Rozanova sought to show them both as equal characters. To this end, a particularly expressive puppet was created—its moving eyes, mouth, and eyebrows allow it to convey the subtlest emotions, revealing not only the character’s external actions, but also her deepest inner states. The puppeteer and the puppet meet on stage – like a mother’s incessant inner monologue, combining both faith and doubt in a single experience.
“I’m Always Hear” is a sensitive story about meeting a baby and oneself in a new role – that of a mother.
