A play that can be watched from a stroller.

When Donatas Savickis, author and director of this unique project, and his wife, stage designer Angelina Furmaniuk-Savickienė had their first child, they came up with an idea to make a play for babies.

The play consists of three parts based on the elements that surround us: sky, earth and water. Each part features a different plot, form and look that help portray its respective element.

The creators attract the attention of the youngest of theatre-goers by employing vividly coloured spatial shapes, lighting (designed by Vytautas Kairys) and sound created live using different instruments and objects, thus lending the play an air of ritual.

Sleepy Pillows – Dreamy Tales is Donatas Savickis’ second work at the Klaipėda Puppet Theatre. The young director is a founder of an arts organisation Kolektyvinis Sodas. Last year, members of this organisation premiered a play Dark Little Cloud in the Klaipėda Puppet Theatre and Lithuanians, based on Gintaras Grajauskas poetry, in the Klaipėda Drama Theatre. Both plays have been directed by Donatas Savickis.

Theatre plays for babies are made in effort to raise the new theatre audience and to satisfy the need of culture for the youngest audience group. Since most of the professional theatres stage plays for children of 3 and above, there is a lack of shows that are accessible to the youngest viewers.
