The Big Bang takes the audience to the very very beginning when out of a big bang our universe had emerged. In one of the many planets of that universe, the story of a show takes place. In this world of a thriving society, diverse cities and cultures we observe the life of a little robot and his dog – one day, however, their carefree rhythm of life is threatened by a new and unexpected danger – it starts raining. How will this world of metal and electronic appliances react to water? Will the water destroy it? What such climate change will bring to the robot and his dog? Will it turn out to be a tragedy for them? Raising strikingly urgent and relevant questions, but doing that in a very entertaining form, the show suggests that it is about time for humanity to ask itself not only how life came into being but also – how will it end.
A co-production between Klaipėda Puppet Theater (Lithuania) and Itim Ensemble (Israel), the show is the best example of the creative style and technique developed by PuppetCinema and his artistic leader Zvi Sahar. The mission of his theater is the synergy of puppet theater and cinema: in the performances,
miniature puppets are being filmed and the image then directly projected to the screen. In The Big Bang, the fictional world of the show is created re-using various parts and elements of electronic devices. It makes the show’s theme on ecology, climate change, and sustainability be also reflected in the very process of its actual production.
“A thriller about contemporary Armageddon, taking place in a microworld made of computer parts and other electronic devices”.
